Governed for the sport, accountable to its nations.

Meridian is an independent, member-led federation. Our structure exists to protect clean competition, distribute the sport fairly and keep every ranking point honest.

Mission & vision

Why we exist.

Our mission

To grow, govern and safeguard athletics — providing a fair, transparent and inspiring pathway from a child's first race to the championship podium, for every nation we serve.

Our vision

A world where athletics is the most accessible, trusted and celebrated sport on earth — clean, data-driven and open to anyone with the will to compete.

Structure

How the federation is organised.

Authority flows from the member congress to an elected board, supported by standing committees and an independent integrity unit.

The Congress

The supreme body — one vote per member nation. Approves statutes, budgets and the four-year strategic plan.

96 member federations

Executive Board

15 elected members set policy, ratify calendars and oversee the secretariat between congresses.

Chair · President A. Moreau

Integrity Unit

Independent of the board. Manages anti-doping, results management and competition-manipulation cases.

Reports to Congress directly

Technical Committee

Sets competition rules, equipment specifications and the certification of records.

Chair · Dr. H. Bekele

Athletes' Commission

Elected by athletes, for athletes — a guaranteed voice and two seats on the Executive Board.

Chair · L. Nakamura

Development & Grants

Allocates solidarity funding to grassroots programmes and emerging member nations.

Chair · S. Okonkwo

Leadership

The people who steward the sport.

An elected, term-limited leadership drawn from across our member nations.
